Maize Elegia 280

Practical Performance and Field Reliability

«Elegia 280» is a high-performance maize hybrid developed by the Selection and Genetics Institute, designed for farmers who prioritize yield stability and disease resistance. The hybrid is specifically bred to withstand common pathogens, such as common smut and head smut, significantly reducing the pressure on chemical plant protection programs during the growing season.

Application and Agronomic Strategy

With a maturity period of 100–110 days, this hybrid offers a balanced approach for producers focused on either grain or silage. Its dent grain structure contributes to a high starch content of 74%, ensuring excellent feed value for livestock or high-quality commercial grain.

• Grain Production: recommended density of 60–65,000 plants per hectare allows for optimal cob formation and grain fill.
• Silage Use: the hybrid demonstrates reliable biomass accumulation, making it a dependable choice for quality silage production.

The agronomic flexibility of the hybrid is its key advantage: depending on local moisture availability, seeding rates can be adjusted from 60,000 to 75,000 plants per hectare. This allows producers to optimize their seeding costs based on the specific conditions of each field. Resistant to both fusarium and stem rot, this hybrid provides the durability required for modern, efficient farming operations.
