Dulcano

Dulcano is a three-line medium-early hybrid sweet corn with FAO 270, developed by the Institute of Steppe Zone Agriculture of NAAN of Ukraine and registered in the State Register of Plant Varieties of Ukraine in 2011. The hybrid is characterized by high yield, reaching 8.49 to 11.75 tons per hectare, and is intended for grain production. The plant reaches a height of 190–210 cm, does not bush out, and the productive ear is positioned at a height of 65–72 cm. The ear has a conical-cylindrical shape up to 21 cm long with 18–20 rows of yellow, dent corn kernels, with a 1000-kernel weight of approximately 270 g. The hybrid is resistant to diseases such as common smut, stalk rot, and helminthosporiosis, making it high-tech and drought-tolerant.

Recommended planting density varies depending on region: 50–55 thousand plants per hectare in the Steppe, 65–70 thousand in the Forest-Steppe, and 75–80 thousand in the Polissia. Seeds are grown on a sterile base using a full restoration scheme, ensuring high-quality planting material and stable yields. This planting and selection technology guarantees the reliability and efficiency of the hybrid under various climatic conditions.

In addition, Dulcano corn can be used to prepare popcorn — a popular snack with a rich flavor and crunchy texture. Salted popcorn, for example, with cheese, pairs well with various beverages, including light and dark beer, and is an excellent alternative to popcorn during movie viewing. This product is economical, filling, and has quickly gained popularity due to its aroma and taste qualities.
