Duncan 233 SV

Duncan 233 SV — a mid-early three-line hybrid sweet corn with FAO 270, intended for grain use. This hybrid was developed by the Institute of Agriculture of the Steppe Zone of NAAN of Ukraine and has been included in the State Register of Varieties Suitable for Distribution in Ukraine since 2011. The plant reaches a height of 190–210 cm, is resistant to lodging and stem breakage, ensuring reliability in cultivation. The ear is up to 21 cm long, conical-cylindrical in shape, with 18–20 rows of kernels, which are toothed yellow in color and have a cream-colored texture. The 1000-kernel weight is approximately 270–290 g. The Duncan 233 SV hybrid is characterized by high technological efficiency and drought resistance, making it particularly valuable for cultivation in steppe and forest-steppe zones. It also exhibits resistance to major diseases such as common smut, stalk rot, and helminthosporium, reducing the risk of yield losses. The plant does not bush, and the height of the productive ear attachment is within 65–72 cm, which contributes to optimal yield formation. To achieve maximum yield, it is recommended to follow the recommended planting density: in steppe zones — 50–55 thousand plants per hectare, in forest-steppe zones — 65–70 thousand plants per hectare. The potential grain yield of the hybrid ranges from 8.49 to 11.75 t/ha, confirming its high productivity and adaptability to various agroclimatic conditions. The hybrid responds well to fertilizer application, allowing for further yield increases with proper agronomic practices.
