Maize Darunok

Technical Profile of the "Darunok" Hybrid

Developed by the V. Ya. Yuriev Plant Production Institute of NAAS, "Darunok" is a single-cross corn hybrid engineered specifically for grain production. With a growing season of 90–100 days, it occupies the early-maturing segment. This biological timing is a strategic asset for regions with short growing seasons or where agricultural cycles require early field clearing for winter crop rotation.

Engineering and Physiological Advantages

• Uniformity through Single-Cross Genetics: Being a single-cross hybrid ensures superior crop homogeneity. This uniformity in plant height and physiological maturity optimizes harvesting equipment settings, directly reducing field losses and improving overall throughput.
• Grain-Focused Metabolism: The hybrid’s biological processes are optimized to channel resources into grain filling. A key feature is the rate of moisture loss at maturity, which helps minimize post-harvest drying costs—a vital factor for economic efficiency.
• Adaptive Breeding: As a product of the Yuriev Institute, the hybrid carries the legacy of Ukrainian selection, focusing on resilience against local stressors, such as periodic heatwaves and shifting moisture levels, ensuring predictable performance.

The practical value of this hybrid lies in its efficiency-to-yield ratio. By choosing "Darunok," producers secure a reliable early-season performer capable of maintaining yield stability under moderate input levels, providing clear advantages for operational planning and harvest logistics.
