Maize CITADEL

Silage corn for maximum energy value

When a farm needs to provide its livestock sector with high-quality bulky feed, the choice of hybrid shifts from grain yield to dry matter output and fiber digestibility. The "Citadelle" hybrid from the French breeding company Mas Seeds is a specialized solution for silage production, focused on creating a balanced diet.

Agronomic advantages

The main emphasis for "Citadelle" is the so-called "stay-green" effect. During grain filling, the plant stays green longer, giving the agronomist a flexible harvesting schedule. You are not limited by rigid timeframes: the optimal harvest window expands, allowing for the ideal moisture content for silage pit storage.

• High biomass potential: the hybrid forms a powerful plant with a developed leaf apparatus, ensuring intense photosynthesis.
• Energy balance: the focus is not only on total mass but also on starch content. This helps reduce the share of expensive concentrates in cattle diets.
• Technology compatibility: the hybrid is responsive to intensive cultivation technologies, making it predictable in classic crop rotation systems.

Application scenario

The practical value of "Citadelle" lies in the stability of silage quality metrics regardless of seasonal weather conditions. Farms using this hybrid gain the ability to store feed with high energy density, which is critical for dairy farming. With proper plant density management, "Citadelle" demonstrates excellent lodging resistance, which facilitates the work of forage harvesters and minimizes harvest losses.
