Altair 311 — a mid-season, simple hybrid corn of Ukrainian selection with FAO 310, intended for grain and silage cultivation. Plants reach a height of about 250 cm, with a strong stalk and well-developed root system, ensuring resistance to lodging. Ear attachment height is approximately 90-100 cm, and the ear has a weak conical shape, 22-24 cm long and 4.5-5 cm in diameter. The kernel type is dent, yellow in color, with high starch and protein content, arranged in 16-18 rows, with a 1000-kernel weight of 310-340 g. The hybrid exhibits high drought resistance (rating 9), enabling stable yields even under insufficient moisture. Additionally, Altair 311 shows high tolerance to major corn diseases, including southern rust and corn borer, as well as corn earworm. Cold resistance is rated at 8, making it suitable for cultivation in various climatic zones of Ukraine, including the Forest Steppe and Polesie. The medium initial growth rate allows successful use of the hybrid at later sowing dates. Recommended planting density varies by region: in Polesie — 70-80 thousand plants per hectare, in the Forest Steppe — 60-70 thousand/ha, in the Steppe — 45-50 thousand/ha. The yield potential of Altair 311 reaches 13.9 t/ha, making it a profitable choice for farmers seeking high productivity and crop resilience. The intensity of grain drying after physiological maturity is medium, facilitating harvest and subsequent crop processing.
