The meadow clover variety 'Inheritor' is a high-yield fodder crop developed by FSBSI 'Stavropol Scientific Research Institute of Agriculture'. Bushes of this variety are strong and semi-erect, with stems ranging from 65 to 80 cm in length, characterized by tenderness and high branching. Leaves are large and elongated-round in shape, while inflorescences have a pink color and medium density. 'Inheritor' seeds are egg-shaped with a characteristic beak and yellow-violet coloration; the mass of 1000 seeds is 1.8 g. The variety is distinguished by high yield: under irrigation, average green mass yield reaches 439.8 centners/hectare, and on dry land—187 centners/hectare. Protein content in the plant is 13.1%, and fiber is 30%, making it a valuable fodder plant.
Biological features of the variety include rapid regrowth in spring and after mowing, ensuring effective use of the vegetation period. The duration from the beginning of spring vegetation to the first mowing is 48-53 days, and to full seed maturity—105-115 days. Foliage is at the level of 56-59%, and winter hardiness is high, allowing successful cultivation in various climatic conditions. 'Inheritor' is tolerant to abiotic environmental factors and highly drought-resistant, expanding its cultivation potential in southern regions on dry land and irrigated lands.
The 'Inheritor' variety has high productivity potential, reaching 110-120 centners/hectare of dry matter with 21.2% crude protein and 3-5 centners/hectare of seeds. It can be used in both field and on-farm crop rotations, serving as a good predecessor capable of restoring and enhancing soil fertility, as well as protecting it from erosion. Due to its resistance to diseases, pests, lodging, and drought, as well as high productivity, this variety is a reliable choice for the fodder sector in agriculture.
