Primorye Relay is a one-year cleome reaching up to 150 cm in height and possessing a powerful branched root system. The leaves are odd-pinnate, palmately compound with short spine-like stipules, giving the plant a characteristic appearance.
Cleome flowers measuring 2–3 cm have four petals and long stamens of blue or purple shades. They bloom from bottom to top, forming racemes 15–17 cm long. The corolla can be white, pink, lilac, purple, crimson, or yellow, making the variety popular for creating bright accents in flowerbeds.
Primorye Relay does not require specific soil and grows well on fertile, loose soils. However, the plant cannot tolerate waterlogging, so it is important to ensure a good drainage system. It is drought-resistant but requires abundant but infrequent root watering. Care includes regular application of organic and mineral fertilizers, mulching to retain moisture and fight weeds. Seeds are sown at the end of February–beginning of March; if necessary, they can be soaked in an Epin or Zircon solution to accelerate germination. Transplanting is done at the stage of two true leaves, after which the plants are fed with a nitrogen-containing fertilizer. Open ground planting is carried out in the second half of May–beginning of June at a distance of 50 cm between plants.
Cleome Primorye Relay is not suitable for growing near windows due to its smell, but it effectively masks buildings and fences. In the third plane of mixed borders, the plant retains color for 10–12 days, making it a valuable element of landscape design.
