Philadelphus – is a spreading deciduous shrub, reaching a height of up to 3 meters and a crown width from 1.5 to 2 meters. Its shape resembles a broad, slightly rounded crown, making the plant ideal for creating living fences, decorative compositions, and separate planting elements in landscape design.
The key feature of Philadelphus is its abundant flowering. In June–July, the bushes are covered with white inflorescences up to 4-5 cm in diameter, collected in panicle groups of 3–7 pieces. The flowers have a bright aroma that spreads over considerable distances and creates an atmosphere of coziness around the garden or balcony. Flowering can last from 16–20 days, while some varieties, such as «Sable Mantle», even retain lushness for more than fifty days.
Caring for Philadelphus is simple and does not require much effort. The plant prefers fertile, loose, water-permeable soils with moderate acidity but does not tolerate stagnant water or salinization. For planting, it is recommended to use a drainage layer and a mixture of leaf soil, sand, and compost, so that the root collar is covered by 2–3 cm of earth. Philadelphus loves bright sunlight and a quiet, windless place, while being resistant to frosts and urban conditions. Thanks to these characteristics, it becomes a universal decorative element for any garden projects.
