Description

This variety was obtained by crossing cherry 'Ideal' with blackbird plum 'Cherny Oryol'. Originator — All-Russian Research Institute of Genetics and Breeding of Fruit Plants named after I.V. Michurin. Breeders: S.V. Zhukov and E.N. Khartonova. Introduced into the State Register in 1988 for the Central Chernozem region.
Medium-sized tree. Crown is broadly rounded, fairly dense and heavily leafed. Shoots of medium thickness, straight, matte, brown, covered with light brown sparse small tubercles. Internodes of medium size. Buds of medium size, conical, brownish-gray, lagging behind the shoots. Leaf of medium size, egg-shaped. Apex slightly pointed, base rounded. Leaf glossy, dark green, slightly wrinkled with noticeable veins. Leaf blade nearly flat. Leaf margin finely serrated. Petiole short, slightly twisted, medium thickness, green, weakly pigmented. Stipules medium-sized, round, on a small stalk, brown, 1-2, more often at the base of the leaf, less frequently on the petiole. Bracts small, quickly falling off. Flowers from one bud 3-4, medium size, petals round. Calyx bell-shaped. Stigma positioned slightly above the anthers. Fruit set on cluster branches and on last year's growth.
Fruits large, mass 4.0 g, flat-round, dark red with intensely colored juice, glossy with clearly visible ventral seam, with deep indentation from the pedicel. Numerous small red subcutaneous dots, poorly visible. Flesh red, tender, juicy, slightly sour-sweet, pleasant taste (4 points). Fruits contain dry matter — 21.5%, sugars — 10.4% (in some years — 12.84%), acids — 1.54%, ascorbic acid — 15.0 mg/100g. Stone separates easily from the flesh, round, medium size. Pedicel long, thin. Variety for table and technical purposes.
Enters fruiting stage on 2-3 year. Fruits ripen simultaneously, early in the first decade of July, sometimes in the third decade of June, do not drop off. Variety self-sterile. Good annual yield. Resistant to coccomycosis and viral diseases. Slightly affected by clasterosporiosis. Tree long-lived.
Advantages: good annual yield, winter hardiness of trees and fruit buds, early fruiting.
Disadvantages: insufficiently dry fruit detachment.
