Variety selected at the Buryat Fruit and Berry Experimental Station. Selected among seedlings from open pollination of Ulmus ulmoides. Authors: O.S. Bolotkov, S.P. Vaulina, A.S. Sholokhova, T.I. Prokofieva, N.N. Platono. Introduced into the State Register in 1991 for the East Siberian region.
Medium-sized, fast-growing tree, especially in the first 4-5 years, with a medium-dense spreading crown. Bark gray. Shoots medium, straight, brown-green, bare. Petioles numerous, yellow, medium size. Leaves medium, egg-shaped, long-pointed, green, matte. Leaf blade flat, apex gradually pointed, base pointed, hairless. Leaf margin doubly serrated. Petiole short (1 cm), thin, pigmented (burgundy). Inflorescence — umbel, flowers rose-shaped, medium, white. Petals oval, well-spaced, stamens 20-25, calyx green, hairless.
Fruits large, average weight 17 g, maximum 23 g, medium uniformity, oval, apex rounded, base with indentation, pit medium, ventral suture fine, barely noticeable, does not crack. Peduncle short, medium, detaches from branch well, attachment to stone is weak. Main fruit color yellow, covering reddish with a raspberry tint, spots, blurred. Subcutaneous dots barely noticeable, skin tender, bare, covered with a light waxy coating. Flesh yellow, juicy, medium consistency. Pulp color uniform with flesh. Stone detaches well from flesh, oval, smooth, constitutes 5.7% of fruit flesh.
Fruit appearance attractive (4.8 6al), fruits aromatic, tart-sweet taste, taste rating 4.7 points. Dry matter content in fruits — 15.4%, sugars — 7.6%, acids — 1.8%, vitamin P — 193.7 mg/100g, ascorbic acid — 4.0 mg/100g, pectin substances — 0.9%. Universal variety. Good transportability. Fruits harvested at blush stage ripen in boxes in a ventilated room over 6-7 days.
Flowering occurs on average from May 20 — June 2, fruits ripen from August 25 — September 5. Enters fruiting on the 5th year after budding in nursery. Average lifespan 25-30 years. Self-sterile. Annual fruiting, alternate years, abundant, average yield per tree 7.5 kg, maximum — 16 kg. Average yield per hectare 4.5 t/ha. Medium winter hardiness, in severe winters terminal one-year branches freeze, in particularly severe winters — partial skeleton branches, flower bud damage on average 20-35%. Moderate drought resistance. Damage from Clasterosporium not more than 1 point. Affected by plum fruit moth and aphids.
Important condition for commercial planting — placement on slopes, elevated, well-protected from wind sites.
Advantages: winter hardy, large-fruited, high-yielding variety, good fruit flavor.
Disadvantages: shedding at ripening.
