Sweet cherry Garden Yellow

Why 'Prусадебная желтая' remains a favorite among home gardeners

In an era of modern, high-maintenance hybrids, this cherry variety remains a benchmark for low-input gardening. Its key competitive advantage is the balance between early harvest and high resistance to the weather volatility typical of temperate climates.

Key Advantages

• Early Harvest. It is among the very first cherries to ripen, hitting the market or your table when other varieties are still developing.
• Cracking Resistance. Unlike many large-fruited Southern varieties, the berries of this cultivar maintain their integrity even after heavy May rains.
• Dessert Quality. The flesh is tender, juicy, and sweet with a minimal acidic kick.

Points to Consider

As a classic variety, 'Prусадебная желтая' does not produce giant fruits; they are of medium size, typical of traditional breeding. Its primary weakness is low transportability. These cherries are not meant for long-distance logistics or commercial wholesale, as they damage easily if handled roughly. It is best suited for private orchards where the harvest is consumed fresh or processed immediately after picking.

The variety is self-sterile. To ensure a stable harvest, it is essential to plant compatible pollinators nearby, such as 'Valery Chkalov' or 'Drogana Yellow'.
