Carrot Montana RZ

Reliable Yields and Long-term Storage Potential

For growers focused on consistent output, the Montana RZ hybrid by Rijk Zwaan offers the predictability needed for a successful season. This Nantes-type carrot stands out for its uniform, cylindrical roots and vibrant orange color, which meet the high standards of both retailers and processors. It is designed for those who value efficiency, minimizing the need for extensive sorting during harvest.

Cultivation Efficiency

To ensure optimal crop development, we recommend a sowing density of 1.0–1.2 million units per hectare. Maintaining this range prevents overcrowding and ensures each carrot reaches its full size. With a maturity window of 90–100 days, Montana RZ is versatile enough to be used for bunching, high-speed processing, or main-season storage production, providing flexibility for diverse market demands.

Resilience and Disease Management

One of the key operational advantages of Montana RZ is its strong resistance to Alternaria leaf blight and powdery mildew. By keeping the foliage healthy for longer, you reduce the reliance on intensive fungicide programs. This not only lowers input costs but also ensures that the plants can focus their energy on root development, leading to better quality and higher yields.

Post-Harvest Durability

Montana RZ is an excellent choice for growers who want to tap into the off-season market. Its ability to maintain top-tier quality in storage for 7–8 months allows you to wait for favorable price windows. Furthermore, the roots are well-suited for automated harvesting and rigorous washing lines, as the skin remains firm and resistant to damage. This is a robust workhorse hybrid that delivers consistent quality from the field to the supermarket shelf.
