Saturn

White cabbage of the Saturn variety is a mid-late hybrid developed by the Federal Scientific Center for Vegetables. The leaf rosette is raised, leaves are small, light green in color with a slight waxy coating, smooth and slightly wavy at the edges. The head is round-flat, partially covered, with whitish flesh upon cutting. The head mass varies from 2.6 to 3.1 kg, with a density of 4.1 points, which ensures good elasticity and marketable appearance. The taste of the cabbage is pleasant, making it universal for various cooking methods.

The Saturn variety is characterized by high yield—commercial yield ranges from 352 to 457 centners per hectare, which is 25-70 centners higher than standard hybrids Extra F1 and Favorit F1. The maximum recorded yield reached 872 centners per hectare. The yield of commercial product reaches 92%, indicating high cultivation efficiency and minimal losses during harvest. The hybrid is resistant to Fusarium wilt, which increases its reliability in various climatic conditions.

Cabbage Saturn is recommended for use both fresh and for pickling. Due to its characteristics, it is suitable for the fresh produce market, processing, and storage for up to 4-5 months. The light green color of the leaves and good head density make this variety attractive to consumers, while its versatility allows it to be used in salads, fried, stewed, and in soups. The variety is adapted for growing in the Central and Volga-Vyatka regions, confirming its resilience and high productivity.
