Cabbage Opus

A Professional Standard for Kohlrabi Production

The «Opus» kohlrabi variety from Enza Limited offers a reliable solution for producers looking to optimize their harvest cycles. Unlike less stable varieties, this hybrid is engineered for consistency, making it a preferred choice for farms supplying large-scale retailers and food processing companies alike.

Field Performance and Operational Value

The primary advantage of «Opus» is its ability to deliver high-quality, uniform produce. With an average weight of 1.0–1.5 kg and a characteristic flat-round shape, the bulb is perfectly adapted for mechanized harvesting and efficient post-harvest handling, including washing and packing. This consistency helps minimize physical damage during transit, which is a major pain point in the supply chain.

• Fresh Market Appeal: Excellent flavor profile and visual uniformity make this hybrid a competitive option for premium retail shelves.
• Processing Efficiency: The standardized size of the bulbs streamlines the peeling and slicing processes in industrial facilities, directly reducing waste and labor costs.
• Adaptability: Backed by the robust genetics of Enza Zaden, «Opus» shows strong performance across various soil types, provided that irrigation and nutrient management are maintained.

By integrating «Opus» into a crop rotation, farmers can effectively mitigate the risks of bulb splitting and uneven growth, which are common issues triggered by fluctuating moisture levels. For operations working under tight supply contracts, this hybrid serves as a strategic asset, ensuring that each harvest batch meets stringent market specifications for size and aesthetic quality.
