Leaf cabbage (kale) of the 'Green Curtain' variety is an early-ripening and decorative vegetable that reaches a height of 60-80 cm within 125-140 days after planting. The plant is distinguished by beautiful, dark green, heavily ruffled leaves that are resistant to yellowing and falling, making it not only useful but also an attractive element in a garden or flowerbed. 'Green Curtain' kale tolerates short-term temperature drops well, allowing it to be grown in various climatic conditions.
This cabbage variety is a valuable dietary product containing twice as much protein as white cabbage. The leaves are rich in vitamins C, B1, PP, carotene, as well as mineral substances such as potassium, magnesium, calcium, iron, and phosphorus. 'Green Curtain' is recommended for use both fresh and for culinary processing, canning, and freezing. Thanks to its delicate and thin structure, the leaves are suitable for salads, soups, side dishes, and are especially good for making stuffed cabbage rolls.
For successful cultivation of 'Green Curtain' cabbage, fertile, well-drained soils with a neutral reaction are preferred. The plant develops best in well-lit areas and does not tolerate shading. Cultivation is usually carried out through seedlings, which are planted at an age of 50-55 days with a spacing of 60x60 cm. Regular watering, weeding, loosening, and fertilization with mineral fertilizers, including nitrogen, potassium, and micro-fertilizers with magnesium and boron, are necessary throughout the season. Before planting, seedlings are hardened, and the optimal temperature for growth is +15-28°C during the day and +12-14°C at night.
