Reliable harvest: the experience with Bermuda hybrid

When planning a season, it is vital to have a crop that won’t let you down in the field and will be in demand on the market. Bermuda cabbage from the Dutch breeding company Wing Seed is exactly that case where predictable results become your main competitive advantage. Within 90–100 days after transplanting, we get commercial heads that perform equally well for the fresh market and for processing.

In the field: shape and consistency

The first thing you notice during harvest is the uniformity of the heads. The flat-round heads weighing 2–3 kg go into crates almost like they were made by a template. If the fresh market prices dip, this cabbage can easily be diverted to processing — the density of the head allows for efficient handling on various types of equipment. The leaves are not too coarse, which is highly appreciated by retail chains.
