Barley Skyway

Robust yield potential under unpredictable conditions

French selection by Secobra Recherches S.A.S. offers a reliable choice for farms aiming to minimize crop losses due to pathogens. The 'Skayvey' variety is known for its versatility, adapting to both winter and spring cultivation. This flexibility allows agronomists to optimize crop rotation plans, accommodating various sowing windows and climatic challenges.

Phytosanitary shield for your fields

The primary value of 'Skayvey' lies in its comprehensive resistance profile. In environments prone to high humidity and temperature fluctuations, this variety exhibits strong resistance to a range of diseases that often reduce barley yields by 20–30%:

• Strong defense against Helminthosporium and Mycosphaerella leaf spot.
• High resistance to powdery mildew, essential for dense stands.
• Protection against Fusarium and brown spot, which are critical for maintaining grain quality.
• Inherent immunity to Alternaria (including head blight), which helps reduce the need for intensive fungicide applications during the late growth stages.

Practical field management

Field data indicates that 'Skayvey' performs best under intensive management practices. The variety responds positively to balanced fertilization and micronutrient application, showing vigorous vegetative growth. In operations where Septoria and various spotting diseases are endemic, this variety acts as a form of “biological insurance,” helping to suppress infection development until planned treatments can be executed. Given its ability to thrive as both a winter and spring crop, it is an optimal choice for large-scale operations where logistical constraints make timely fungicide application difficult.
