KWS Scala

Winter barley KWS Scala is a medium-maturing two-row winter barley variety recommended for sowing in the Polissia, forest-steppe, and steppe regions. It is characterized by early heading and medium maturity, enabling effective use in various climatic conditions. The variety was registered in 2015 and developed by KWS, a company with over 160 years of experience in seed selection and production.

KWS Scala stands out for its high yield, which exceeds previous varieties by 5%, as well as high sorting quality and grain characteristics. The 1000-grain weight is approximately 7 grams, with a low number of grains per ear. The variety exhibits medium to high resistance to lodging, ear shattering, and inter-ear internode breakage, which helps maintain yield under adverse weather conditions. Additionally, barley is resistant to diseases such as powdery mildew, rhiophytophthora, leaf spot, and dwarf rust.

KWS employs modern breeding methods, including genetic engineering and DNA analysis, ensuring high quality and reliability of KWS Scala seeds.
