Aster Lady

Practical Application of 'Lady' Aster in Professional Horticulture

The 'Lady' perennial aster, developed by the North Caucasian Federal Agricultural Research Center (SKFNAZ), is a breeding product designed for both sustainable landscape architecture and commercial cut flower production. Its genetic robustness combined with high aesthetic quality makes it a versatile tool for growers.

Key Operational Scenarios

• Landscape Design: With a height ranging from 50 to 80 cm, this variety is ideal for the mid-layer of flower beds. The semi-spherical and chrysanthemum-like flower shapes provide a dense, high-impact visual texture suitable for both private estates and public park areas.
• Cut Flower Production: The substantial flower diameter (10–15 cm) ensures this variety is highly competitive in the floral market. The stems provide sufficient structural integrity for professional bouquets, ensuring good durability during transport and retail display.
• Container Cultivation: Its adaptability allows for use in pot culture, making it suitable for mobile landscaping of terraces and hospitality venues.

Winter Hardiness and Agrotechnics

As a perennial crop, 'Lady' is specifically bred for winter survival in regions with harsh or moderate climates. This attribute significantly reduces the recurring costs of labor and soil management associated with annual flower varieties. Developed by breeders A.V. Kozhevnikov and V.I. Kozhevnikov, the variety is engineered for reliability.

To achieve the maximum flower diameter of 15 cm, growers are advised to manage water intake carefully during the budding phase and apply standard nutrient protocols during the peak vegetative period. The stability of 'Lady' makes it a preferred choice for professional gardeners looking for low-maintenance, high-return perennial ornamental plants.
