Winter variety selected by the North Caucasus Research Institute of Mountain and Piedmont Horticulture. Obtained by hybridization of Red Delicious with Calville Snow. Breeders: P. P. Kostyk, R. S. Shidakov, O. A. Varkvasov, V. N. Berbekov. Variety approved in the Kabardino-Balkar Republic.
Medium-sized tree. Young crown is broad-pyramidal, medium density. Trunk with smooth light-brown bark. Skeletal branches grayish-brown, branch at nearly right angle, drooping with age. Predominant fruiting forms — simple, complex rings, short and long fruiting spurs.
Shoots reddish-brown, straight, with medium internode length. Leaves dark green, shiny, large, elongated-oval, with rounded base, serrated margins, short petioles, hairy.
Flowers fairly large, light pink, with medium hairy stigmas, stigmas located below anthers.
Fruits medium-sized (150 g), one-dimensional, round-oval, wide-ribbed. Skin smooth, shiny, with bright red coloration with bluish bloom covering 3/4 of fruit surface, through which pink dots are visible. Peduncle medium thickness and length. Receptacle open, dish deep and ribbed.
Flesh light yellow, firm, juicy, medium-grained, sour-sweet taste. Sugar content — 7.7%, titratable acids — 0.58%, ascorbic acid — 6.2 mg/100g.
Winter ripening variety. Fruit storage until mid-February.
Early-bearing variety (fruiting starts on 4th year after planting in orchard), high yield, weak fruiting periodicity. Medium resistance to scab, high resistance to powdery mildew.
Advantages of the variety: high, regular yield, excellent fruit commercial quality, early bearing, high resistance to powdery mildew.
Disadvantages of the variety: medium resistance to scab, fruit drop and small fruit size in areas with insufficient moisture.
