Description Bashkir Emerald
Late-autumn apple variety from the Bashkir Research Institute of Agriculture. Obtained by crossing the varieties 'Uralskoe nalivnoe' and 'Korichnoe nove'. Authors: G.A. Mansurov, Kh.N. Fazliakhmetov, T.G. Demina.
Widely grown in Bashkortostan, Kirov, and Orenburg regions. Approved in 2001.

Medium-sized, fast-growing tree. Medium-density crown; spreading in youth, broadly round in fruiting. Branches straight, compactly arranged, angled close to vertical from the trunk, tips pointing upward, moderate leafiness. Bark on the trunk and main branches smooth, greenish. Bears fruit on short and long fruiting spurs.

Shoots thin, straight, round, brownish, bare. Buds few, small, convex. Buds pressed, reddish-brown, conical. Leaves medium, elongated, elliptical, long-pointed, light green, smooth, glossy with delicate venation. Blade flat, slightly curved upward, no pubescence. Leaf margin finely serrated, smooth. Petiole medium, thin, slightly pubescent. Bracteoles large, lanceolate.
Flowers medium, small-cup-shaped, pinkish, slightly aromatic, stigmas positioned above anthers.

Fruits medium-sized, 55–87 g, single-seeded, conical, slightly ribbed, regular shape, smooth. Skin medium thickness, smooth, waxy, glossy, no russeting. Color greenish-yellow, no bloom, lenticels barely noticeable. Fruit stalk medium length and thickness, straight. Calyx medium, acute-conical, no russeting. Receptacle small, wide, ribbed. Calyx persistent, closed, nectary tube short, medium, funnel-shaped. Central cavity absent. Seed cavity large, bulbous, seed chambers semi-open, membranous, seeds medium, conical, brown.
Flesh yellowish, medium density, slightly acidic-sweet, aromatic, juicy, fine-grained. Appearance rating — 3.7 points, taste — 4.4 points. Chemical composition: dry matter — 16.4%, sugars — 10.4%, acidity — 0.47, pectin — 0.79%, ascorbic acid — 11 mg/100g.

Fruits store for 120 days, high transportability and marketability; universal use variety.
Best pollinators: Bashkir Krasavets, Buzovyezovskoe, Uralskoe nalivnoe.
Early-bearing variety, begins fruiting at 4–5 years. Yield 160–470 centners per hectare. Fruit-bearing regular, fruit drop minimal. Medium longevity.

Advantages: highly winter-hardy; overall degree of freezing damage during 1985–1999 did not exceed 1.0 point. High resistance to extreme conditions. Highly resistant to scab.
