Actinidia "Karavayivska Yurozhna" is a hybrid variety (A. arguta × A. purpurea) developed in Kyiv in 1981. Its fruits have a purple-red skin with a brown tint, oval-elliptical shape, and an average weight of 6–8 g. The variety is distinguished by high yield: approximately 20–24 kg per bush. Fruits ripen in the second half of September – early October, making them available for consumption during the autumn period.
Karavayivska Yurozhna grows into a strong and fast-growing bush. It is well adapted to the Ukrainian climate: withstands cold winters (up to –30 °C) and does not freeze during late spring frosts. Growth occurs in partial shade, while the optimal soil temperature is slightly acidic or acidic. Soils with high nitrogen and phosphorus content, alkaline or clay soils are not suitable. For successful growth, a moderate level of moisture (approximately 60%) and abundant watering – 20–30 liters per bush – are needed.
Planting of Karavayivska Yurozhna is carried out from summer to September or in spring, 2–3 weeks before the first frosts. The distance between plants is 1–2 m. Before planting, seedling roots are submerged in water for 10–15 minutes, which promotes quick rooting. To ensure optimal pollination, bushes of female and male sexes must be placed so that male plants bloom 1–2 days earlier.
The variety is known for its sweetness and high yield, which makes it a popular choice for commercial plantations. Thanks to its cold resistance and simple soil requirements, Karavayivska Yurozhna is suitable for both professionals and amateur gardeners seeking to obtain a bountiful harvest of mini-kiwi in their own yard.
