The best precursors for the plant are crops that have received significant doses of organic fertilizers, such as potatoes or cabbage. Chervil itself requires moderate mineral fertilization, especially potassium and phosphorus.
The crop is quite shade-tolerant, which allows it to be cultivated between rows in fruit orchards, where other root crops might suffer from insufficient sunlight. Optimal temperatures for active growth are between 18 and 22 degrees Celsius.
During dry periods, plants need regular irrigation, as a lack of moisture leads to premature bolting and toughening of the root vegetables.
An important aspect is weed control, which can completely suppress the development of young chervil plants in the early growth phases.
The yield of chervil depends heavily on the intensity of agronomic practices and the quality of soil preparation, averaging between 15 and 25 tons per hectare of marketable roots.
Maximum productivity levels are achieved by ensuring uniform moisture during the active tuber growth period, which occurs in mid-summer.
Under favorable conditions, the diameter of the root vegetables can reach 5-8 centimeters, and their weight can reach 150-200 grams, which is the commercial standard for this crop.

The quality indicators of the harvest are determined by the starch and sugar content, which accumulate in the roots by the end of the vegetation period in late summer.
The main danger to the crop is fungal diseases such as powdery mildew and various types of rot that affect the root system during excessive humidity.
Among the pests, the carrot fly and aphids are the most aggressive, as they can damage the above-ground part of the plant, leading to the weakening of the whole organism and a decrease in root quality.
For pest prevention, it is recommended to maintain spatial isolation from fields where related Apiaceae crops are grown.
Effective control of pathogens involves timely weeding and loosening, which disrupt the insect development cycles in the soil and prevent the spread of fungal spores.

The harvesting of chervil begins when the above-ground part of the plant starts to turn yellow and wilt, which usually happens in July or August.
