In spring, as conditions become favorable, females lay their eggs in protected areas. The damage pattern involves the boring of narrow galleries through plant tissues. The pest not only physically destroys the bark and cambium but also creates an ideal environment for the infiltration of phytopathogenic spores and bacteria. This leads to premature branch dieback, reduced orchard productivity, and the eventual death of the tree if the level of infestation remains unchecked.
