Zucchini Verte petite dAlger

Cultivation Guidelines for 'Vert Petit d'Alger'

The French hybrid 'Vert Petit d'Alger' is a specialized zucchini-type squash developed for high-performance greenhouse environments. Characterized by a compact, bushy habit with moderate branching, this variety is engineered to maximize space efficiency in indoor growing systems.

Agronomic Management

To achieve optimal yields, a planting density of 1.5 to 2 plants per square meter is recommended. This spacing ensures adequate airflow, which is crucial given the leaf morphology—specifically the silver spotting on the leaf blades—to prevent moisture accumulation and subsequent fungal issues.

• Soil and Nutrition: The hybrid thrives in well-structured, aerated substrates with a pH range of 6.0–6.8. Nitrogen management is vital during the early vegetative stage, while a shift toward potassium-rich fertilizers is necessary once the conical-elliptical fruits begin to develop.
• Irrigation: Drip irrigation is the preferred method. It is essential to keep the foliage and flowers dry to maintain the integrity of the plant and ensure successful pollination, as indicated by the distinct green ring inside the corolla of both male and female flowers.
• Maintenance: The plant's architecture, featuring short petioles with minimal spines, significantly reduces labor during harvesting. The absence of tendrils keeps the plant tidy and manageable throughout the growing cycle.

With its robust green stems and consistent fruit shape, 'Vert Petit d'Alger' provides a reliable solution for professional greenhouse producers looking for a high-quality, easy-to-manage zucchini variety.
