HADJIBEY — mid-maturing spring barley variety, created through individual selection from a hybrid population obtained by crossing various lines, including Nutans and Prestige. The plant is medium-sized with a semi-erect bush and a pyramidal loose ear without a waxy coating. The mass of 1000 grains ranges from 43 to 52 grams. The ear is characterized by long awned awns with anthocyanin pigmentation of medium intensity, and the grain is semi-long, large, and extra-large, contributing to high-quality raw material for brewing.
The variety is distinguished by its resistance to lodging and high adaptability to dry conditions, although it is slightly less drought-resistant than the Gonaar variety. HADJIBEY has high germination energy of leveled grain and thin endosperm, which, combined with low protein content, makes it stable for brewing. It is recommended for cultivation in the Central Chernozem region, particularly in the Belgorod and Kursk regions, and demonstrates stable yields, exceeding the standard variety Odessa 115 by 10-18%.
The average yield of the variety in the test region is 36.7 centners per hectare, while the maximum reached 68.1 centners per hectare. Despite high productivity, HADJIBEY is susceptible to flag smut and highly susceptible to loose smut and septoria. The variety also demonstrates high resistance to root rots, leaf-sheath, and smut diseases, making it a reliable choice for the brewing industry and agricultural production.
