Watermelon HEATHER HONEY WATERMELON

Operational efficiency in the field

The 'Vereskovy Med' (Heather Honey) watermelon is a choice for growers who value predictable performance. Developed by the Gavrish breeding firm and VNIISSOK, this hybrid is designed for efficiency. With a consistent weight range of 8-10 kg, it streamlines logistics; the fruits fit perfectly into standard shipping containers, significantly reducing handling time and transit losses.

Field management and handling

• Harvesting and storage: The oval-round shape is optimal for stacking, and the sturdy rind protects the fruit during transport and storage, ensuring minimal bruising.
• Irrigation requirements: The crop is resilient but requires controlled irrigation. Consistent water management during the ripening phase is critical to maintaining the texture of the red flesh.
• Marketability: The dense, vibrant red flesh holds up well during post-harvest handling, making it a reliable choice for wholesalers and retail chains.

From an operator's perspective, this hybrid is a workhorse. It is forgiving of minor agricultural inconsistencies while consistently hitting its weight targets. It requires minimal "fine-tuning" once the basic irrigation cycle is established. If you need a cultivar that balances yield predictability with ease of handling and high shelf-life, this hybrid fits the bill perfectly for commercial production.
