Description

Watermelon BONANZA is an ultra-early, high-yielding premium hybrid, suitable for cultivation in various climatic conditions, including the Lower Volga region. The plant is trellis-type with a medium-length main vine and leaves ranging from medium to large, green or dark green in color. The period from germination to technical maturity is 65 to 86 days, enabling early harvest. The hybrid exhibits high resistance to diseases such as fusarium and anthracnose, and can fruit even under low temperatures and weak light. Watermelon BONANZA fruits have a broadly elliptical or round shape with a thin, light-green rind and narrow dark-green stripes. Fruit weight varies from 2 to 5 kg, depending on the number of fruits per plant. The flesh is vivid red or crystalline yellow, depending on the hybrid variant, and features exceptional sweetness, crisp texture without fibers, and tenderness that melts in the mouth. The flavor is rich with a long aftertaste, and the aroma is often compared to rose scent. Seeds are small and brown, with a low quantity. Hybrid BONANZA is recommended for fresh consumption and is suitable for cultivation on both irrigated and dryland soils. Yield under proper care ranges from 80 to 263 centners per hectare, depending on growing conditions. Although not highly transportable, fruits retain their market quality for up to 7 days after harvest. Recommended planting density is 7-8 thousand plants per hectare, with the best preceding crops being potatoes, cabbage, and legumes.
