The Cherry variety Kapelka is a dwarf tree up to 150 cm tall with a spreading, open canopy of medium density. The branches are straight, brownish-brown in color, while the leaves are of medium size, inverted-ovate shape, dark green, wrinkled and matte. The flowers are triple, rose-shaped and white, medium in size. The fruits are round in shape, have dark red skin and weigh about 3-4 grams. The flesh of the berries is juicy, tender, red in color with a pleasant sweet-sour taste and strong aroma. The pit separates freely, which facilitates consumption and processing of the fruits. Ripening periods are medium, the harvest is collected from the end of July, slightly later in northern regions.
The variety is distinguished by good yield and frost resistance, enduring temperatures down to -30 degrees Celsius, although young trees are recommended to be covered for winter. Kapelka is partially self-fruitful, so to increase yield it is advisable to have pollinators present. A medium-sized tree with a round canopy is well adapted to the conditions of the central region and is resistant to low temperatures.
This cherry variety is suitable both for cultivation on personal suburban plots and for commercial horticulture due to the combination of high productivity and hardiness. Despite frost resistance, the tree is susceptible to certain diseases, such as rust, scab, canker and anthracnose, as well as pests, including aphids, cherry flies, ants, sawfly, weevil, moth and rose chafer, which requires timely care and protection.
