Practical Cultivation of 'Elixir' Guelder Rose

For the gardener, the 'Elixir' variety represents a reliable, low-maintenance asset. Developed by the I.V. Michurin Federal Scientific Center, this cultivar is highly resistant to common pests, specifically aphids and the viburnum leaf beetle. This inherent resilience significantly reduces the need for constant chemical treatment, allowing for a more eco-friendly and cost-effective garden management strategy.

Maintenance and Growth Characteristics

The bush features a medium-spreading habit, which simplifies maintenance tasks and harvesting. The plant requires minimal pruning to maintain its aesthetic shape, making it a convenient choice for any landscape. 'Elixir' is known for its stability and adaptability, performing well without the need for specialized complex inputs.

Harvest Potential

• Berry weight ranges from 0.8 to 1.2 grams, providing a good yield density.
• The flavor profile is distinctly bitter-sweet, making it suitable for both fresh consumption and various culinary processing methods.
• The deep red color of the berries serves as a clear visual indicator of maturity for an efficient harvesting process.

The versatility of 'Elixir' is its main strength.
