Tulip Recreado

Cultivating ‘Recreado’: A Practical Choice for Commercial Growers

For professionals in the floral industry, selecting a tulip variety is a balance between visual appeal and agronomic reliability. The ‘Recreado’ tulip, a simple late-flowering variety, is gaining traction among growers due to its robust health profile and predictable growth patterns, making it an efficient choice for large-scale operations.

Disease Resistance as an Operational Asset

Managing fungal outbreaks is a constant challenge in both greenhouse forcing and field cultivation. ‘Recreado’ differentiates itself by offering inherent resistance to major pathogens that typically compromise crop yields:

• Peronospora (Downy Mildew): Its resilience to high humidity levels makes it a reliable choice for regions with volatile spring weather.
• Powdery Mildew: Reduced susceptibility means fewer fungicide applications are required, directly lowering operational costs and pesticide use.

Standing at a medium height, the plant possesses a sturdy stem that maintains its structure well. This trait is particularly valued for labor efficiency, as it minimizes the need for auxiliary support systems during the intensive blooming phase.

Strategic Application and Market Utility

The striking lilac color of the petals provides a distinct aesthetic advantage for seasonal floral arrangements and landscape design projects. As a mid-season bloomer, ‘Recreado’ serves as a critical link in production schedules, ensuring a consistent supply of inventory after early-season varieties finish and before the late-late varieties take over.

For growers focusing on cut flower standardization, the uniformity of this variety is a significant benefit. It allows for predictable harvesting timelines and consistent grading, both of which are essential for fulfilling retail and wholesale contracts without the risk of high rejection rates due to uneven development.
