Tulip Rea

Why «Rea» is the choice for resilient tulip production

In the competitive world of Triumph tulips, the «Rea» variety distinguishes itself not by exotic shapes, but by agricultural reliability. For professional growers, the primary challenge with red tulips is often their susceptibility to bulb and foliage diseases. «Rea» changes the equation, offering a robust defense against Peronospora, Fusarium, Phoma, and Bacteriosis. This biological hardiness makes it a top choice for fields with higher pathogen pressure.

Physical attributes: Stability first

Classified as a low-growing variety within the mid-season Triumph group, «Rea» prioritizes structural integrity. The stems are remarkably sturdy, resisting lodging even under high-wind conditions or heavy spring rains. This vertical stability is a major operational advantage, as it removes the need for support systems and minimizes waste during the harvest process.

Strengths and trade-offs

• Strengths: Superior resistance to fungal infections, significantly lowering expenditure on fungicides. The vibrant, deep red color is a consistent market favorite and remains stable under direct sunlight.
• Trade-offs: The shorter stem length means it is not the ideal candidate for premium-length bouquet arrangements where vertical impact is the primary goal.

«Rea» is designed for growers who prioritize consistent, predictable yields over aesthetic trends. It is an efficient, low-maintenance choice that excels in environments where plant durability is the critical factor for economic success.
