Tulip Praestans 'Unicum'

Botanical Vanguard: The Potential of 'Unicum'

Tulips of the Praestans group have long established themselves as a reliable foundation for early spring landscaping. Within this line, the 'Unicum' variety holds the position of a multi-flowering hybrid, prized by breeders for its predictability and high biological plasticity. Unlike large-flowered garden classes, this model focuses not on bud size, but on the intensity and dynamics of opening.

Agrotechnical Profile and Resistance

The key advantage of this crop is its comprehensive resistance, which is uncommon for many ornamental bulbous plants. Practical cultivation experience demonstrates 'Unicum's' high tolerance to major pathogens:

• Fungal threats: total resistance to fusarium wilt, downy mildew, and root rot.
• Phytopathology: pronounced immunity to powdery mildew.
• Pests: the variety effectively withstands infestations by spider mites and melon aphids.

These characteristics help reduce the frequency of fungicide and insecticide applications, making 'Unicum' a rational choice for farms focused on eco-friendly production.

Market Positioning

Its medium-height parameters and early flowering time define the typical usage scenarios for this variety. 'Unicum' is ideal for creating dense spring flowerbeds, border compositions, and container gardening. The vibrant red petals create a necessary visual accent at the start of the season, when the market demands saturated colors. Shape stability and robust immunity make this variety a predictable asset for professional floriculturists working in both open field and protected environments.
