Tulip Onedin

Exotic Beauty with Pro-Grade Resilience

The ‘Onedin’ tulip is a rare find in the world of parrot tulips, where breathtaking aesthetics usually come at the cost of high maintenance. Unlike many decorative hybrids in this class that are prone to fungal infections, ‘Onedin’ possesses a robust genetic resistance to peronospora, fusarium, and powdery mildew. For gardeners who crave the elaborate, fringed look of parrot tulips but want to avoid endless fungicide cycles, this variety is a game-changer.

Characteristics and Field Performance

The defining feature of ‘Onedin’ is its stunning salmon-colored petals, characterized by the dramatic, ruffled edges typical of its class. Its medium bloom time makes it a perfect bridge between early spring bloomers and late-season flowers. The plant’s medium height offers excellent structural integrity: it is sturdy enough to handle moderate spring winds without the need for staking, while maintaining the elegance required for high-end floral arrangements.

• Class: Parrot Tulips – distinct geometry and rich, salmon hues.
• Disease Resistance: Exceptional resilience to fusarium and powdery mildew, significantly reducing the maintenance burden.
• Versatility: Ideally suited for garden borders, landscaping accents, and professional cut flower production.

‘Onedin’ is much more forgiving than most other parrot varieties, which are notoriously sensitive to moisture fluctuations. By prioritizing a well-drained site, gardeners can rely on this variety to produce healthy, vibrant blooms even in volatile weather conditions. It is the optimal choice for those who value the drama of parrot tulips but demand the reliability of a commercial-grade variety.
