Tulip Camargue

Late-season yield: The strategic value of Camargue

Camargue tulips, classified as Single Late, are a go-to choice for commercial growers aiming to extend their market presence. By selecting this variety, farms can capture the late-season demand, effectively bridging the gap after early-blooming tulips have cleared the market while maintaining high-quality output.

Practical application and cultivation

The Camargue tulip is defined by its striking dual-tone aesthetic, featuring red petals accented with soft cream hues. Its tall stem is its most commercially significant attribute, making it perfect for industrial greenhouse forcing and open-field cultivation for high-end floral markets. The long, sturdy stems support heavy blooms, ensuring a premium presentation that resists wilting and damage.

• Seasonal Planning: Late bloom times allow farm managers to optimize labor scheduling and avoid the saturated market windows of early spring.
• Forcing Efficiency: The variety shows a reliable, predictable response to thermal adjustments, giving growers better control over the harvest timeline.
• Transport Durability: With its robust stem structure and dense petal composition, Camargue maintains high quality throughout the supply chain, which is essential for wholesale distribution.

When cultivating in field conditions, managing spacing is critical to allow for the development of a strong root system consistent with high-growth cultivars. To maximize performance, standard irrigation practices combined with targeted potassium applications during the budding stage are recommended. This approach ensures not only maximum stem height but also the deep, vibrant color contrast that defines the variety.
