Tomato Unavsky

Technical Profile of the Unavskyi Tomato Variety

Developed by the Kyiv Research Station of the Institute of Vegetable and Melon Growing (UAAS), the Unavskyi variety is a refined solution for early-season field production. The core value of this genetics lies in balancing ultra-early maturation with significant fruit size—a challenging objective for determinate tomato varieties.

Biological Indicators and Performance

• Vegetation Period: Reaches maturity within 90 days. This cycle is critical for evading peak summer temperatures, which often cause pollen sterility.
• Fruit Morphology: Exhibits a round, stable shape with high structural integrity. The average weight of over 200 grams is a standout feature for a variety in this maturity class, achieved through optimized nutrient translocation into the fruit.
• Genetic Potential: The vibrant red color indicates high lycopene content, enhancing both marketability and the nutritional profile of the produce.

The practical application of Unavskyi is focused on early market delivery. Its compact growth habit simplifies field management, such as thinning and weeding, while allowing for higher plant density. The well-structured canopy promotes adequate airflow, a critical factor in mitigating fungal pressure in humid or unpredictable weather conditions.
