Tomato Toronjina

Why Toronzhina is the Top Choice for Cherry Tomato Growers

For farmers operating in the premium cherry tomato segment, finding the perfect balance between transportability and shelf life is a constant challenge. The Toronzhina hybrid from Enza Limited addresses this, delivering 20-40g fruits that maintain their marketability for over 30 days post-harvest.

Key Advantages in the Field and at Retail

The primary strength of this hybrid is its exceptional shelf life. In modern logistics, where the supply chain from the greenhouse to the retail shelf can take over two weeks, Toronzhina maintains its firm texture and vibrant orange color without losing skin integrity.

• Disease Resistance: Comprehensive genetic resistance to major pathogens reduces the need for frequent fungicide applications. The hybrid confidently resists Verticillium wilt, Fusarium wilt, Leaf mold (Cladosporium), and Tomato mosaic virus.
• Consistent Yields: The hybrid delivers predictable performance whether grown in plastic greenhouses or under more intensive agricultural practices.

If you are targeting the premium retail market, where the aesthetic appeal of the orange color and an extended shelf life are critical, Toronzhina is a sound investment. It is significantly more forgiving regarding post-harvest storage conditions than most competitors in the same weight class, helping to minimize waste during retail distribution.
