Tomato RUSSIAN WARRIOR

Working with the 'Russkiy Vityaz' Tomato

Working with the 'Russkiy Vityaz' variety from the Sedek brand, one quickly notices its predictable performance. This is not the type of crop where you have to guess whether the harvest will reach maturity or end up as excessive foliage. The seeds, developed by originators Dubinin S.V., Dubinina I.N., and Lukyanenko A.N., show consistent germination, which is critical when planting on a large scale.

Agronomy and Crop Cycle

The 90–100 day maturation period allows for precise harvest scheduling. As a determinate variety, it does not require constant pruning, saving significant labor time during field maintenance. In professional farming, this efficiency directly translates into lower production costs.

Yield and Marketability

Real-world yields of 70–100 tons per hectare confirm its status as an industrial-grade variety. The fruits, weighing over 200 grams, feature a classic round shape—the gold standard for the fresh produce market. The common weakness of large-fruited varieties is their fragility, but 'Vityaz' surprises here: its firm skin ensures that the produce survives long-distance transit without losing its commercial appearance. Unloading and stacking are straightforward processes, with minimal damage reported.

Practical Observations

In the field, 'Russkiy Vityaz' is notable for its resistance to cracking caused by humidity fluctuations. For an agronomist, this means less pressure to strictly control irrigation during the fruit-filling stage, simplifying farm management. It is a solid choice for those seeking a balance between large fruit size and reliable logistics.
