The 'Red Elephant' tomato variety is one of the best beef-type tomatoes for open-ground cultivation. It is characterized by its low-growing habit — the plant height is only about 50 cm, which simplifies care and harvesting. The plant is strong, well-branched, and capable of bearing fruit weighing 300 to 350 grams. The fruit flesh is multi-chambered, filled with aromatic honey-like juice and practically seedless, making them especially attractive to consumers.
The variety is early-maturing: fruits ripen 100-105 days after sowing, allowing avoidance of late blight and minimizing fungicide use. Due to these qualities, 'Red Elephant' is suitable for salad use and also excellent for making juices, tomato paste, and canning in its own juice. This makes the variety versatile and convenient for various applications.
Tomatoes are grown using seedling method with transplanting at the first true leaf stage. After planting, tying and shaping are recommended, although not mandatory. The optimal planting scheme is 40x60 cm, providing sufficient space for each plant to develop. Fruits are harvested as they ripen, allowing for a prolonged supply of fresh tomatoes.
