Tomato MOON

A reliable choice for yellow tomato enthusiasts

The 'Lunnys' (Lunar) tomato is a product of the Federal Scientific Center for Vegetable Growing (FSCVG). In the professional agricultural community, this variety is known as a reliable crop for open field cultivation and plastic film shelters, specifically bred for early harvests in temperate climates.

Agronomic Profile

This variety is distinguished by its short vegetation period: from germination to the start of fruit ripening, it takes less than 90 days. This early maturity allows the 'Lunnys' variety to avoid the peak of late blight (phytophthora), which is critical for gardeners working in regions with short summers. The plant is of a determinate type, which simplifies maintenance in field conditions.

Harvest Characteristics

The fruits feature a distinctive bright yellow color, making them highly sought after in the dietary and baby food segments. The versatility in fruit weight is noteworthy: the variety can produce compact fruits of 80-100 grams, perfect for whole-fruit canning, as well as larger tomatoes weighing over 200 grams. High carotenoid content and a mild, balanced flavor are the main reasons why growers continue to rely on this variety year after year.

Why 'Lunnys' remains a favorite:

• Speed: Ultra-early ripening (up to 90 days).
• Versatility: Suitable for both fresh salads and pickling.
• Heritage: Breeding by the FSCVG ensures strict adherence to the stated varietal characteristics.

Despite the influx of modern hybrids, 'Lunnys' remains a classic solution for those looking for a time-tested variety that combines low maintenance, early ripening, and attractive marketability.
