Tomato Metropolis is a hybrid variety developed by breeder A. E. Portyankin and approved for use in 2020. It is an indeterminate plant characterized by high growth — up to 180-200 cm — and a prolonged vegetative period during which growth does not cease. The variety is medium-early, with a fruit maturation period of 100 to 115 days after seed germination. Recommended for cultivation in greenhouses and under plastic covers, which provide optimal conditions for growth and fruiting. Tomato Metropolis fruits are flat-round in shape and bright red when fully ripe. The weight of one fruit varies from 200 to 260 grams depending on growing conditions, with 4 to 7 fruits forming per cluster. The fruits are distinguished by their dense structure, juiciness, and pronounced aroma, making them suitable for fresh consumption as well as for making juices, sauces, and preserving. High yield reaches 16.5-17.3 kg per square meter with proper agronomy and planting scheme of 50x50 cm. Cultivation of Tomato Metropolis begins with sowing seeds for seedlings in February-March, with the possibility of sowing in April in northern regions. Seedlings emerge within 3-5 days, after which seedlings are transplanted into individual containers for better development. Transplanting into greenhouses or under plastic covers is carried out after the establishment of stable warmth. Due to its resistance to adverse conditions and diseases, the Metropolis variety is a reliable choice for gardeners aiming to obtain a stable and high-quality tomato harvest.
