CONCORD — this is a semi-heading lettuce type Lollo Rossa, a Dutch selection by Rijk Zwaan, intended for cultivation both in open ground and in greenhouses. The plant forms a beautiful semi-spreading head of medium size weighing up to 500 g, with dark red upper leaf parts and green-yellow hues at the bottom. The leaves are small, smooth, glossy, juicy, and crisp, making Concord lettuce ideal for fresh consumption, as well as for salads and garnishes. The variety is adaptable to growing conditions and tolerates temperature fluctuations, allowing cultivation throughout the year in greenhouses and from April to September in open ground. A notable feature of this variety is its high resistance to powdery mildew, necrosis, and lettuce aphids, as well as immunity to blossom end rot and flower drop. Concord is not particular about soil type, but requires controlled soil moisture. Planting density is 10–12 plants per square meter. The lettuce retains its flavor and appearance during transport and storage, making it popular both in fresh produce markets and for processing. Additionally, the variety is characterized by early ripening and prolonged fruiting. Plants are vigorous, determinate, about 0.6 meters tall, which simplifies care and reduces the need for pinching. Fruits are red, round, fleshy, weighing up to 230 g, with excellent taste and good storability. Yield per plant in open ground reaches up to 5 kg. Early ripening avoids phytophthora infection, and its versatility makes Concord suitable for both fresh salads and canning.
