Tomato FITILOK

Optimizing Early Harvest and Logistics

The «Fitilyok» tomato, developed by the Federal Scientific Center for Vegetable Growing (FSCVG), is a reliable determinate variety designed for commercial production. With a maturity period of up to 90 days, it enables growers to capture the early-season market while avoiding the peak pest and disease pressure that typically impacts late-summer crops.

Field Performance and Agrotechnical Use

• Low-Maintenance Growth: The determinate growth habit minimizes the need for extensive pruning and staking, significantly reducing labor inputs per hectare.
• Marketable Produce: The uniform plum-shaped fruit, weighing 80–100 grams, is highly desired by retail chains for its consistent appearance and size.
• Logistical Durability: Renowned for excellent transportability, the firm texture of these tomatoes allows for long-distance shipping with minimal cullage, a key asset for farmers serving wholesale markets.

«Fitilyok» is primarily targeted at open-field operations aiming for efficient, mechanized-friendly harvest cycles. Its structural integrity makes it equally suitable for whole-fruit canning, providing growers with multiple sales channels. By choosing this variety, producers benefit from a predictable, stable crop that bridges the gap between early market demand and long-term shelf life requirements.
