Tomato Camel

Technical Profile of the Camel Hybrid

Developed by VNIISSOK, this hybrid is designed to stabilize yields in both open-field conditions and under film covers. As a determinate variety, the plant has a self-limiting growth pattern, which allows for optimized planting density and simplified plantation management.

Agrotechnical Indicators and Morphology

• Growing cycle: 100–120 days. This mid-season maturity enables effective crop scheduling for continuous supply.
• Fruit structure: The flat-round shape ensures compact stacking during transit, significantly reducing mechanical damage.
• Color standard: Deep red pigment, which is the industry preference for fresh-market tomatoes.

The hallmark of the Camel variety is its superior transportability. The dense skin and firm flesh structure preserve marketability even during long-distance shipping, a critical factor for farms targeting regional markets. The balanced water content makes this hybrid highly competitive in the fresh produce segment.

Cultivation should account for the determinate growth habit: strategic pruning helps channel the plant's energy into fruit development rather than excessive foliage. This variety is a pragmatic choice for growers seeking a reliable balance between predictable harvest timelines and high market liquidity.
