This breeding project by the Dnipropetrovsk Research Station of the Institute of Vegetable and Melon Growing (NAAS) is a mid-late variety designed for stable yields in open-field conditions. The biological cycle from germination to maturity is 120–130 days, classifying it as a late-maturing variety that requires precise agrotechnical planning.

Fruit Morphology and Commercial Specs

A key feature of "Boyarin" is the variation in fruit weight, ranging from 80–100 grams to individual specimens exceeding 200 grams. The round shape ensures convenience for packaging and automated sorting. The pink color of both the skin and flesh is due to the accumulation of specific pigments, which increases demand in the fresh market.

Operational Parameters

• Transportability: The selection process focused on achieving high skin density, allowing produce to be transported over long distances without significant loss of marketability.
• Planting Density: The optimal range is 40–60 thousand plants per hectare. Adhering to these standards is critical to prevent shading and ensure proper ventilation, reducing the risk of fungal diseases during the ripening phase.

This variety represents the work of the Ukrainian breeding school, specifically adapted for the Steppe and Forest-Steppe climatic zones. Unlike many early-maturing hybrids, "Boyarin" accumulates more intense flavor profiles due to its long vegetation period, making it a top choice for farms focused on high-quality produce rather than just early harvesting.
