Cabbage MALAIKA

A Reliable Choice for the Fresh Market

The «Malayka» cabbage variety is designed for growers focused on the fresh produce segment. Developed by the Russian Federal Scientific Center for Vegetable Production (researchers M.I. Solomatin and A.F. Bukharov), this variety offers predictable performance under intensive cultivation. Its primary appeal lies in its compact, dense, round-to-oval heads that meet standard retail size and quality requirements.

Key Agronomic Features

• Ideal Weight: With heads ranging from 1.0 to 2.0 kg, it optimizes field space and simplifies logistics during packing and distribution.
• Visual Appeal: The intense dark green color retains its marketability on retail shelves, which is essential for supermarket sales.
• Storage Window: A shelf life of 1–2 months provides farmers with a flexible timeframe for distribution, avoiding the need for immediate distress sales post-harvest.

Practical Farm Application

«Malayka» is well-suited for growers supplying local markets and regional vegetable hubs. Its uniform head shape allows for efficient stacking in standard crates and bins, minimizing transport damage. The variety is compatible with high-density planting schemes, helping maximize marketable yield per hectare.

Management Tip: Given its 1–2 month shelf life, planning the harvest for immediate-to-short-term distribution is recommended. It performs exceptionally well in summer-autumn rotations, providing a consistent supply of fresh, high-quality cabbage during peak seasonal demand.
