Tomato BEAR'S HEART

A true giant for meat tomato enthusiasts

The "Medvezhye Serdtse" tomato by SDK-SIDS represents a classic category of indeterminate varieties, serving as a benchmark for those prioritizing flavor over mere volume. Its standout feature is genetic stability: you get a consistent, iconic heart-shaped fruit known for its high sugar content and a dense, yet melt-in-your-mouth texture.

Cultivation and characteristics

This plant requires a professional touch. As an indeterminate variety, the vine demands high-quality support and consistent pruning, as the plant directs its primary energy toward forming large fruits weighing 200 grams and above. With a maturity period of 120-130 days, it is classified as mid-to-late season, making it best suited for greenhouse cultivation in regions with shorter growing seasons.

• Flavor Profile: A low seed count and high dry matter content make it ideal for fresh salads and rich tomato juices.
• Reliability: Developed with strong genetic resistance to common tomato diseases.
• Yield Management: The fruit requires thinning in the cluster to achieve the maximum size characteristic of this variety.

"Medvezhye Serdtse" from SDK-SIDS is the perfect choice for growers willing to invest time in vine management to harvest heavy, vibrant red and pink tomatoes that outperform store-bought varieties in every aspect. While the necessity for staking and the delicate nature of the large fruit (making them harder to transport) may be considered drawbacks, for personal use or local niche markets, this is one of the most rewarding varieties available.
