Sweet Corn EARLY Raiser

American Breeding for an Early Harvest

Early Riser by the California-based company Abbott & Cobb is a benchmark in the supersweet (SH2) corn category. Over decades of market presence, it has established itself as the "first choice" for growers aiming at the early segment. The originator has carefully balanced extreme sugar content with commercial appeal.

Technical Specifications and Performance

This hybrid reaches maturity in 60-70 days, making it an optimal choice for farmers looking to capture the "first wave" of market demand when prices are at their peak. The plants grow to 180-200 cm, maintaining high leaf density, which is crucial for protecting the ears from intense solar radiation.

• Ear Size: A length of 22-25 cm is an excellent figure for an early hybrid, allowing it to compete with later-maturing varieties in yield volume.
• Kernel Quality: The 16-20 rows ensure high packing density. The SH2 endosperm type ensures long-term sugar retention, allowing the ears to maintain their dessert-like taste for several days post-harvest.

Application and Market Niche

Early Riser is primarily oriented towards the fresh market. Its value lies in its high visual appeal: the uniform shape and vibrant kernel color attract consumers in retail settings. Furthermore, thanks to its balanced sugar levels and excellent kernel integrity, the variety is well-suited for home and industrial canning where maintaining product texture after heat treatment is essential. By selecting this hybrid, growers benefit from the proven consistency of an American brand with a global reputation, effectively reducing risks associated with early-season weather volatility.
