Sweet Corn Cupidon

A Reliable Choice for Your Garden

The "Cupidon" sweet corn variety is the result of long-term breeding work by specialists at the Federal Research Center for Vegetable Growing. Developed by a team led by N. Yu. Antipova and O. V. Malykhina, this variety has established itself in the mid-early crop segment, catering to a wide range of needs from small-scale family farming to local produce markets.

Agronomic Traits and Morphology

The plant reaches a height of 160–200 cm, ensuring optimal productivity under standard planting schemes. It produces high-quality cobs with a length of 18–20 cm. A key indicator of its market appeal is the number of grain rows, ranging from 14 to 18, which provides a visually attractive appearance for the fresh market.

Versatile Application

The reputation of this variety rests on its adaptability and culinary versatility. Unlike narrow-niche hybrids, "Cupidon" excels in three key areas:

• Fresh Market: attractive presentation and marketable cob size.
• Boiling: high consumer taste ratings, characteristic of the sugar corn group.
• Canning: the dense grain structure allows it to maintain its integrity and flavor profile after heat processing.

The development of "Cupidon" was a response to the market demand for a reliable domestic variety capable of delivering consistent yields. It is a solid choice for growers looking for a balance between ease of cultivation and the excellent gastronomic qualities of the cobs.
